Family Caregiver Training Programme
Free training for family caregivers, taught by trained health workers. Covers daily care, safety and emergency skills.
Certified, hands-on training for community health workers, family caregivers and trainers, so that people who give care have the skills and confidence to do it well.
Family members are often the most important source of care for an older or sick relative. Many take on the responsibility suddenly and without the knowledge they need, and both the patient and the caregiver suffer for it.
When older people or patients cannot look after themselves, daily life becomes hard. Caregivers can struggle to understand their behaviour, and often neglect their own physical and mental health.
ACMERI and Caregivers Asha Society set up the Institute to build a skilled, compassionate care workforce. It trains professionals and families in long-term care for older adults, using evidence-based practice and practical assessment.
